We've been off the road since last October, so it was time to go. As most of you know by now, our favorite place to go is to East Tennessee. We left February 18th, 2010, after lunch and drove to Pearl, MS, for the night. On Friday we drove on to Ft. Payne, AL, to see Ivan Parker in concert. What a time we had! Ivan had no idea that we would be there, so he was surprised as was a good friend, Barbara Hall of Alabama. The concert was very good. Ivan never lets us down. He is so full of the Holy Spirit, and you can't help but be blessed. It is no wonder that he has won so many awards. On Saturday, we traveled on to Pigeon Forge. We got there in time to rest a little before going to eat at the New Orleans on the River Restaurant. I had requested that Kirk Talley be our waiter. He made suggestions as to what we should eat. He did great! Everything was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening with Kirk. The owner of the restaurant who's from Louisiana came to our table and asked me, "So you like that Bread Pudding?" I told him that it was delicious! Then the chef came out and spoke to us as well. We also enjoyed the live music! A couple sang songs from the '50's and '60's.....great music. Kirk sang along with them on a few songs. We took Kirk a Mardi Gras hat which he put on and wore. The restaurant has a Mardi Gras theme, so we thought Kirk needed a hat to complete his uniform. On Sunday night, Kirk sang in Sweetwater, TN. We decided to go hear him in concert. The crowd was small, but full of spirit. It was a sweet service. Kirk closed the concert with "He is Here". We left Monday coming back to Texas.......that "foreign country". Would you believe we are still getting responses like, "Y'all are from Texas?! and "Y'all came all the way from Texas?" YEP, and proud of it! Pictures and more music are now up.
On Saturday evening, March 13th, we drove to Tyler, TX, to see Legacy 5 in concert at Westwood Baptist Church. What a wonderful concert! We heard some great gospel music, and the crowd was really into it. Scott Fowler said that they love to come to Texas because the people love them, and they love the people of Texas. Each member of Legacy 5 has a wonderful spirit about them. It was great to visit with the group. It was even greater hearing the message in song and in word.
ANOTHER EVENING WITH IVAN PARKER......we went to Shreveport, LA, March 19th to see Ivan in concert. What else can I say about Ivan that I haven't already said? If you've met him, you already know that he is one of God's chosen. You know that he has a kind, sweet spirit, and you know that you're always blessed by the songs he sings and his words of encouragement. Ivan reminded us that each day when we get up, no matter what we're going through or have been through, no matter the trials and issues that we might be facing, if we will just choose to follow the Lord and put our hearts in His hands, He'll take care of us. At least 5 souls were saved at the concert, and there were numerous rededications made. Pictures are now up from the concert for you to view, and don't forget to turn on your music player and enjoy Ivan's music.
On April 10th we presented Ivan Parker in concert at Westwood Baptist Church in Tyler, TX. It was a night of praise and worship. That's what you always get with Ivan. So always attend Ivan's concerts prepared to have your cup filled with the Holy Spirit. Just open your heart and let Him in.
We went to the Belcher Center on the campus of Letourneau University in Longview, TX, on April 22nd to see Ernie Haase & Signature Sound in concert. It was a great concert. The Center was filled to capacity, and the folks were ready for a night of praising our Lord in song, and we weren't disappointed. If you've never seen this group in concert, you're really missing out. Pictures are up from the Ivan Parker Concert and this concert. Please turn up your speaker volume and enjoy the music as you view the pictures. It will almost be like being there.
June has been a very busy month for us. Our oldest grandson graduated from Hallsville High School and also celebrated his 18th birthday. We attended both celebrations. Two grandkids down and four to go as far as getting them graduated from high school.
On June 18th we attended a gospel music concert at the Marshall Convention Center featuring Brian Free and Assurance. Also on the program were Joseph Ellenburg, Calvary Boys Quartet, and Calvary Boys Trio. If you missed this concert, shame on you! Those of us who were there had a wonderful and blessed time.
We went to Athens, TX, on June 26th to see Triumphant Quartet in concert. What a joy and a blessing they are! On the program with them were Miles Pike and Trusting Hymn. Both concerts (the 18th & 26th) presented the gospel in song, and I think everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit. In case you missed this concert with Triumphant Quartet, we want you to know that it is in the works to bring Triumphant Quartet to Tyler in 2011. So keep a check on our website. More info will be available later. Pictures will be up soon from both of the June concerts.
Some artists have allowed us to put videos on their pages. To watch, be sure to turn off the blue music box before playing the video. We hope for those of you who are unable to attend concerts that this will let you enjoy hearing the artists sing as if you were there.
We will be presenting Ivan Parker in concert during the Wonderland of Lights in Marshall, TX, and the Candlelight Tour in Jefferson, TX. We will have Ivan at Woodlawn Baptist Church, which is between Marshall and Jefferson, on Friday, December 10 at 7 pm. See "Concerts" page for ticket info. Make plans now to attend Ivan's Christmas Concert during this festive time of the year. Check out the following websites: www.visitmarshalltexas.org/ www.jefferson-texas.com
We hope that you'll plan to attend the concert and enjoy the whole weekend in our area.
